With the 2022 NFL season winding down, we’re excited to start thinking about future football games. As a top manufacturer of kiosks for stadiums, we like to keep our finger on the pulse of NFL news. Although no new football stadiums are opening in 2023, here are a few we look forward to checking out in the coming years.
Buffalo Bills Stadium
The Bills have had two different stadiums to call home during their storied history: War Memorial Stadium in Buffalo, NY, and Highmark Stadium – their present home – in Orchard Park, NY.
A third, 62,000-seat stadium is proposed to be built across the street from Highmark Stadium. The new arena will also include a 5,000-person standing-room-only deck. The venue will be designed by Populous, who also designed twelve other active NFL stadiums. The stadium is slated to be finished ahead of the 2026 season.
Chicago Bears: Soldier Field or Arlington Park?
The Bears are looking to leave Soldier Field with the acquisition of the 326-acre Arlington International Raceway from Churchill Downs Inc. However, the city of Chicago would like to keep the Bears at Soldier Field. So it’s questionable whether they will build a new stadium or renovate the old one.
A statement on the Chicago Bears website proposes that the new stadium property, Arlington Park, will be one of the largest development projects in the history of the state of Illinois. The proposal includes multi-purpose entertainment with commercial and residential offerings.
“We envision a multi-purpose entertainment district anchored by a new, best-in-class enclosed stadium, providing Chicagoland with a new home worthy of hosting global events such as the Super Bowl, College Football Playoffs, and Final Four.” (chicagobears.com)
The deal for the new location is expected to close in early 2023, with no date set for the opening of the future stadium.
Tennessee Titans – Nissan Stadium
According to the Titans, Nissan Stadium is aging and no longer adaptable to renovations. As a result, the Titans are looking to move into a new stadium built just east of the current stadium.
The target opening for the 60,000-seat venue would be in 2026. The new stadium would be enclosed to have year-round usage and host events like the Super Bowl, College Playoffs, and Wrestlemania. The 1.7 million square foot venue would include terraces with panoramic views of Nashville, sustainable building materials, and a circular-shaped translucent roof. The new stadium is slated to be LEED Gold certified when it opens.
There’s nothing like catching a game at a new stadium. New stadiums tend to have all of the latest technology including things like Autonomous Checkout Lanes and 5G Connectivity. Not to mention incredible concessions using touchless technology and trendy food offerings. We’re looking forward to seeing all that these new stadiums have to offer.
